Most sellers focus on price and stock. The listing itself — title, images, description, tags — gets set up once and never touched again. This is a missed opportunity. A better listing converts more browsers into buyers, and ranks higher in platform search.
A listing health score is a fast way to see which of your listings are underperforming and why.
What a listing health score measures
The score looks at the completeness and quality of the fields that affect both search ranking and conversion:
- Title — is it descriptive enough? Does it include the key terms a buyer would search?
- Images — does the listing have at least one good image? Listings with no images almost never convert.
- Description — is there a description at all? Longer descriptions give buyers the detail they need to commit.
- Tags — particularly on Etsy, tags are a primary search signal. Missing tags = invisible listing.
- Price — is it set? An unlisted price is an immediate bounce.
- Stock — is inventory tracking on? Listings showing out of stock unnecessarily kill sales.
How the grades work
Each listing gets a score from 0 to 100, mapped to a letter grade:
| Grade | Score | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| A | 90–100 | Complete and well-optimised. Leave it alone. |
| B | 75–89 | Good. Minor gaps — usually tags or description length. |
| C | 60–74 | Missing something important. Fix before a busy period. |
| D | Below 60 | Multiple gaps. This listing is leaving money on the table. |
In SoldSync, the grade only shows on the listing row when it's below A. If everything looks good, nothing is shown — no noise. Hover the grade badge to see exactly what's missing.
The most common issues and how to fix them
No images
This is the single biggest conversion killer. Buyers need to see what they're buying. Even one clear photo is dramatically better than none. In the Images tab inside the listing panel, you can upload images directly and they'll sync to the platform.
Missing description
A description doesn't need to be long. Three sentences covering what it is, who it's for, and what condition it's in is enough to move from a D to a C. Edit the description field in the Edit tab and save — it pushes to the platform immediately.
No tags (Etsy and Shopify)
Tags are free keywords. On Etsy, you get 13. Use all of them. Think like your buyer: what would they type to find this item? Add material, style, occasion, recipient, and size terms. Tags on Shopify also help with collections and filtering.
When to audit listing health
Run a health review before any high-traffic period — Black Friday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, or any platform-specific sale event. Fixing 10 listings from C to A before peak traffic hits is worth more than fixing them afterwards.
In the Inventory panel, sort by health grade to surface your worst-performing listings first. Fix the Ds before anything else — they have the most headroom for improvement.
